This series started as an undergraduate assignment on the urban environment that became an obsession. The series is described as; ‘A collection of abandoned shopping trolleys photographed in situ as they were found’.
Initially my investigation had limited focus, both pictorially and thematically; although the underlying theme was the trolleys, there was no strong connective discourse running throughout the images. Gradually I formulated a classification system, which through sustained observations gave me a more focused resolve.
My study evolved from simple categorisations to a more comprehensive anthropological study of these banal objects. I became attuned to their habits and their likely locations, I looked upon them as prey and relished in the hunt.
After fourteen years this project has now concluded.
