First letterpress batch on the Adana…

Well after a pause for thought and other obstacles I finally got around to pressing some wonderful trinkets of letterpress goodness. Instead of going down the route of setting individual type and getting specific image blocks I decided to go with the option of getting magnesium plates machined up, thanks to Peter and co at Centurion Graphics for their patience with my hit and miss vectors. I chose to get a previous design done that was used for some cyanotype printing and some modifications on an appropriated quote.

SMP 7After quite a few passes the rollers and plate are adequately inked and ready to roll…

Victory is mine, the fruits of my labour have been quite successful. I thought about making my first letterpress printing run onto packaging tags. Getting the registration was a bit of a challenge as I wanted one of the designs to be clipped at the bottom so this involved holding each one slightly above the lay gauge with the string to ensure the plate was not damaged by it.
